HAWICK have secured the signature of a new prop.

Twenty-one-year-old Kyle Manson-Kullin, a tighthead who can play anywhere along the front row, agreed to join the Greens yesterday.

Like fellow forward Liam Launders, he has turned out for Preston Grasshoppers.

He said: “I got a phone call from Phil (Leck) and I was keen to play senior rugby. This is a great opportunity and hopefully I’ll be able to help in the scrums. My favourite part of the game is running with the ball.”

A politics student at Northumbria University, Kyle was born near Durban, South Africa, but has lived just outside Blackburn in Lancashire since he was 11.

It was while starring for Lancashire t age grade level that he came to the attention of Hawick coach Phil Leck, who was working with the Sale Sharks Academy at the time.

Leck said: “I think he’s a very good signing. He’s got a massive amount of potential and he’s just got to realise that.

“He’s not played a massive amount of senior rugby but neither had Liam.

“I wouldn’t have fetched him here to be embarrassed. He’s capable of playing at this level.”
