Selkirk Development XV 5
Hawick Harlequins 17
A hat-trick of tries from Riki Kiori earned Quins the spoils in Saturday’s trial game at Philiphaugh.
Both sides played some good rugby throughout, and it was Selkirk who opened the scoring with a well-taken try. The hosts failed to land the conversion.
Following a few changes to personnel, Quins took control and a score arrived when Jordan Hislop made a good break up the line before offloading to Kiori who scored under the posts. Adam Hall was on target with the conversion.
The second half saw the Baker Street men maintaining their grip on possession, but when Selkirk did attack, the Teri defence remained resolute. Towards the end of the match, Kiori crossed the whitewash for his second and third touchdowns to seal a Teri victory.
Fred Stevenson and Kiori were the pick of the Quins rearguard, while Craig Kyle, Jordan Hislop, Brian Hall and Sam Bandeen all played well.
