HAWICK RFC will tomorrow contest a home match in Galashiels after their RBS Border Regional Cup game against Kelso was switched to an artificial surface.
With it being unlikely that the game would be played at Mansfield Park due to this week’s hard frost, the teams will kick off on the 3G pitch at Netherdale at 4pm.
The Greens committee had plans to discuss provision of transport for fans to the match, with updates in the run-up to the game available on the club website and the noticeboard on the High Street. Officials will operate a gate for members and a separate turnstile for paid admission at Gala. The ground, which will play host to a football match beforehand and require a change of posts prior to Phil Leck’s men taking to the field, is served by a 400-seater stand.
The game is understood to be one of the first Greens home games to be played outwith Mansfield. Hawick last contested a competitive fixture on Friday, November 9 in a Border League home defeat to Peebles, and match secretary Alan Forrest said: “We and Kelso were desperate to play, and we’re delighted to get this opportunity.”
