Rovers back in groove

Rovers emerged from the doldrums with a revitalised show following last week’s heavy defeat at Gala Hotspur.

Playing well throughout, the Teries opened the scoring in the first half through William Monteith, who curled home a 30-yard free kick after Thomas Scott had been fouled.

Tweedmouth hit back with an equaliser and were then denied a second strike by a fine save from deputy Rovers keeper Jamie Dalgliesh.

Rovers created a few chances after this but were sent reeling when the hosts took the lead.

The Hawick men were undaunted, though, and drew level with a gem of a goal. Andrew Tinlin sparked matters off by spraying a pass into the path of Andrew McFarlane. The latter then waltzed his way out of two challenges, and with Tweedmouth at sixes and sevens, Davie Fraser did the rest by netting from close range.

In the closing seconds after a Thomas Scott shot had been blocked by the home keeper, Monteith had an opportunity to grab a winner, only to fire over the bar.
