Week two of the National Leagues, and week two of the torrential downpours.

In all of last season’s fixtures, the YM got two soakings, but the ‘man upstairs’ is certainly making life difficult at the start after another soaking to the Skins.

Livingston were the visitors to Mansfield Haugh on Saturday afternoon hoping to improve on the week before’s thumping, but things looked ominous for them as youngster Matthew Douglas raced in for his first try for the Redskins with only three minutes on the clock.

The conditions hampered play and silly mistakes were being made by both sides. Ross Armstrong replaced the injured Chris Ritson midway through the first half just after Ali Weir slotted his first penalty to take the home side into an 8-0 lead.

A good lineout and some excellent forward play saw a try set up for flying winger Glyn Desport on 26 minutes and that was it for the scoring as YM turned around 13-0 in front.

The rain, like the play in the second half, was stop-start and the Redskins failed to find any continuity. However, three further tries came from Dean McCracken, Michael Graham and a second by Glyn Desport with Ali Weir slotting a penalty and a conversion.
