TEENAGE golfing sensation Tara Mactaggart is enjoying a purple patch.
The 16-year-old claimed the Hutchinson Trophy at North Berwick with a three-under-par score of 71 and followed that up with stunning success at St Andrews.
In the junior ladies’ open, Tara, who plays off 1.9, blazed her way to a three-under-par 68, taking the title from a field of 71 entrants including players from Norway, Sweden, Germany and the United States.
Although she was defeated by Samantha Taylor from England’s Parklands GC on the final hole in the first round of the matchplay, she still secured a trophy and £150 for her efforts.
She said: “It was a great experience and I’d like to thank the Bill McLaren Foundation for their sponsorship.”
Tara is on the shortlist of 11 to play in the Scottish schools match against England in September, with that number reduced to a final team of six before the start of the competition.
