NINE Hawick golfers are ready to battle to out for the 2012 Border Matchplay Championship title this weekend.

Alan Ballantyne, Graeme Tinlin, Jamie Tinlin, Ross Williams, Adam Ballantyne, Warren Renwick, Paul Johnson, Keith Beattie and Paul Desport are among the top 16 qualifiers from the Border Strokeplay Championship who travel to the Roxburghe tomorrow for the first round.

Alan ‘Abu’ Ballantyne goes into the Matchplay this weekend as reigning Border Champion after his victory in the Strokeplay championship in August and is up against Alan Chalmers of Kelso in the first round.

While youngsters Graeme, Jamie, Ross and Adam will all have to be at their best after drawing tough opposition.

The Border Boys Matchplay is also on Sunday at The Roxburghe with defending champion Gareth Renwick and Corey Wilson representing Hawick.
