YOUNG jockey Rowan Scott hit the high spots at Beverley racecourse recently as he recorded his first ever win in flat racing circles.
From the Ann Duffield stables in North Yorkshire, former Trinity Primary and high school pupil Rowan raised a few eyebrows in riding 40/1 outsider Lady Montenegro to a surprise win.
Rowan, who first became interested in horses when following the Cornet as a young boy before having dreams about becoming a jockey, was naturally delighted with his success.
He said: “I was hoping to do well but I didn’t expect to win.
“It’s my first ever win and what a feeling. I was thrilled and so was my boss.”
In terms of working at the stables for Duffield, the XX-year-old added: “I’m really enjoying what I’m doing. It’s a great set-up and I love being involved in horses and racing. And it’s even better when you get a winner.”
