Roxburgh Reivers team started the autumn season with a bang at the fourth round of the Scottish Urban League at a warm and sunny Strathaven on Sunday.

Fielding a strong team, the Reivers came away with two class winners in the shape of Kirstin Maxwell in the women’s open class and Lindsey Knox in the women’s 40+. Both received goody bags courtesy of sponsorship from Buff outdoor clothing.

Other good performances came from Ian Maxwell who was fourth in the M40+ class and first over-50. Ian narrowly pipped Barry Veitch who finished fifth on the same course

Eileen Maxwell came in just behind Lindsey Knox to take runners-up spot in the women’s 40+, while Fiona Forrest was third and Karen Maxwell fifth in the ladies’ open.

When the league scores are calculated, both Kirstin and Eileen will be top of their respective tables with only two rounds to go.

The first of the local club events will be at Selkirk Hill on Saturday, September 15, and full details will be on the club website (www.roxburghreivers.org.uk) nearer the time.
