Minto Golf Club members held a successful annual general meeting on Monday, November 24, in a packed clubhouse.
With increased membership and generally fine weather, members discussed what has been a bumper year of competitions, while the successes of the flourishing junior section were highlighted, as were the ladies’ and gents’ achievements.
Club captain Albert Thompson, vice-captain Jim McDonnell, lady captain Sue James, vice-captain Helen Todd, junior captain Angus Brown and vice-captain Frazer Towers were elected for the coming year.
Meanwhile, Carlenjig and Pat Douglas, the well-known Borders singers and musicians, delighted a capacity audience of Minto golfers and friends at the clubhouse recently. The concert was organised to mark St Andrews Day and included many familiar Scottish pieces as well as others from the group’s wide repertoire.
Albert Thompson, the new club captain, welcomed the group to Minto and expressed the hope that the evening will be the first of many successful social events during his year’s captaincy.
