HAWICK: The Vertish was a hive of competitive activity last weekend, and Saturday saw almost 60 men enter the historic Cameron Conn Trophy, while Sunday’s first medal tournament also proved popular.

Lynn Bruce is enjoying a sparkling start to the season with two wins and a second place out of three handicap competitions, while Jean Beattie is having similar success with two scratch wins out of two.

Scott Murdoch’s stunning score in the April medal puts him in the lead in the Chips and Cheese League, sponsored by the club’s new caterers, the Juicy Meat Company. Thirteen-year-old Scott has also been selected for BGA funded coaching with Frank Scott.

To raise money for Radio Borders’ Cash for Kids appeal, Minto is hosting a juniors and adults alternate shots stableford comp tonight (Friday) at 5pm. Adult/junior pairings from other clubs as well as Minto are welcome to come and join the fun. There will be a prize for the best superhero outfit, though dressing up is optional!
