Roxburgh Reivers Orienteering Club’s first event of 2014 combined a local event with the club championships and attracted a large turnout of 40 runners to a damp Tweedbank on Saturday.

The more experienced orienteers were set off first on a handicap score course where competitors had to collect up to 20 controls depending on their age. First back, and club champion for 2014, was Lindsey Knox in a time of 23 minutes. It was a close contest for 2nd and 3rd places with Ian Maxwell just edging it from Faisal Khursheed.

On the Yellow course for beginners and younger juniors following a set course the winner was Amy Hill.

Following the event members retired to The Barns for a late lunch followed by the club’s AGM. Lindsey Knox received her club champion trophy, Robin Sloan was presented with the Club Achievement award for the year and Karen Maxwell picked up the Junior award.
