HAWICK and Wilton captain Allan Moffat believes his side can still achieve a successive promotion.

But the top order batsman admitted they need others to do them a favour after slipping to defeat last weekend against table-topping Tranent.

The Buccleuch Park outfit are currently third in ESCA Division Seven with Heriots ‘3’ sitting just above them.

But after their third loss of the season Moffat knows the chances of going up are slim.

He said: “It’s out of our hands now, we’ve just got to win our last four games and hope Heriots slip up.

“It’s going to be a big ask because they’re a good side, but we won’t be giving up.”

Hawick and Wilton, who went through the entire campaign last year unbeaten, have remaining away fixtures against Murrayfield DAFS ‘4’ and Edinburgh CC ‘2’ and home matches against Royal High Corstorphine ‘3’ and Broomhall ‘2’.

Moffat added: “We’ve made it difficult for ourselves but it’s not impossible.”
