Ladies’ Captain’s Outing to Baberton Golf Club, Edinburgh Wednesday 14 May

Lady captain Gill Cartwright’s first outing of the season to Baberton last Wednesday was well received by the 21 ladies who joined her at the Pentland Hills course. Karen Telfer, with 37 Stableford points, won the individual competition and the Moore Cup donated by the immediate past lady captain, Lesley Moore. Karen’s success was remarkable in that she is carrying a painful leg injury after completing a 10K race recently. Frankie Brogan, Janice Elliot and Irene Middlemiss won the team competition with 78 Stableford points, with Gill Cartwright, Flora Kerr and Sena Paterson close runners-up on 76. Marion King and Freda Robertson won the nearest the pin competitions on a par three hole and par four.

The gents were beaten 5-1 in Sunday’s match against Peebles. Richard Allott and Albert Thompson were the only Minto pair to secure a rubber.
