Footballer Andy is still boxing clever

Hawick Royal Albert footballer Andy Noble has emergeed king of the ring again following his second bout as an amateur boxer, writes John Slorance.

The midfield dynamo appeared at a recent mixed martial arts/boxing extravaganza before a full house at the Dalkeith Miners Club.

And what a dynamic show he gave in stopping his northeast of England opponent after one minute 57 seconds of the first round.

Boxing as a featherweight, Andy, who won his first bout in Edinburgh last month, said: “I live in Bonnyrigg, but Dalkeith is next door so I was the home town boy and the crowd got right behind me which was great.

“The guy I fought came from South Shields, and I didn’t know anything about him, as he was a replacement for the Newcastle boy I was scheduled to fight

“Everything just went right for me, as I put my opponent down thrice, and the referee stopped the fight.”
