Excellent win for Hawick bowlers at Jedburgh

The Seniors travelled to Melrose last Tuesday to take on Earlston/Melrose, and although the visitors were beaten by 73 shots to 45, the match was closer than the scoreline suggests. Details: R. Last Wednesday, the ‘A’ team came away with an excellent 84 shots to 70 win away to Jedburgh. The Teries’ top rink comprised W. Wells, N. McAskill, K. Ford and L. Clarkson (skip). Details: G. The ‘B’ team notched a very good 70 shots to 60 success at home to Gala Waverley last Wednesday night. Tops for the hosts were W. Killey, M. Reilly, W. Blaikie and T. Anderson. Details: R. Last Friday saw the ‘A’ team play their second league game of the week – a top-of-the-table clash against Melrose at home – and with heavy rain at regular intervals, it was the visitors who coped better with the wet conditions to record a good win by 90 shots to 71. Sunday saw the playing of the JHR Open Pairs competition, and after some very keenly-fought matches, it was Martin Christy and Scott Clarkson who emerged as winners, defeating husband and wife Les and Alison Clarkson in the final. Beaten semi-finalists were N. McAskill and A. Gentleman and B. Anderson and A. Anderson. Thanks to event sponsor Barry Scott, from Hong Kong, and J. H. Reilly for donating the crystal trophy.
