Saturday’s four-rink Teviotdale indoor gents’ team for the trip to Methil once again included several changes due to unavailability of key players and this certainly did not help the leisure centre side’s chances of competing against their Fife counterparts.

After the first seven of 21 ends the hosts held a massive 42-shot advantage and a real hammering looked on the cards for the Teries. Following a further

seven heads, Methil had extended their lead to 47 shots, but by the finish of the 18th end the Teviotdale men had pulled back some of the deficit as only 33 shots separated the teams. However, by the completion of the contest the home side had recorded a win by 53 shots.

Details: J. Fernie 30 A.J. Kyle 12; T. Pettigrew 21 S. Anderson 15; C. Stein 24 M. Hogarth 18; J. Lawson 40 A. Brady 17. East Fife 115 Teviotdale 62.

This Saturday, the following squad will represent Teviotdale gents in their final home game of the season against Headwell, of Dunfermline: Rink one – C. Paterson, M. Notman, S. Anderson and A. Brady (skip). Rink two – D. Macdougall, R. Paxton, R. Brady and C. Macdougall (skip). Rink three – R. Brown, D. Poloczek, K. McCartney and E. Lindores (skip). Rink four – J. Darling, D. Reid, M. Hogarth and A. J. Kyle (skip). Reserves from – A. Taylor, M. Upton, G. Fenwick and J. Thomson. Players to report at the indoor stadium for 1.30pm.

Teviotdale’s seniors secured a comfortable 67 shots to 49 victory in last Wednesday’s friendly at home to Tweedbank. Best for the hosts were J. Thomson, A. Clark, T. Edmison and C. Rae (27-5). At the close of play there was much talk about a return game at Tweedbank and hopefully this will be arranged.

The second round of games in the Sunday Pub and Club League are: Hotshots v Waverley Bar; Wilton v Lodge 111; Mansfield Bar v Harry

Bell. Teams to be at the indoor stadium for the 10am start.
