Border Amateur ‘A’ Division
IN a game in which luck was never on their side, Legion were unfortunate to end up on the wrong end of the result.
The Wilton Lodge Park outfit certainly deserved a lot better as they more than made their mark through an impressive performance.
Youngster Dean McColm twice had the ball in the net during the first half.
But the referee, whose handling of the game left a lot to be desired, ruled both strikes out for off-side.
Following a no-scoring first half, Leithen took the lead after the break.
Legion gave their all in a desperate bid to get back on level terms.
However, it just didn’t happened for the division’s strugglers. The closest they came to levelling proceedings was from a David Battle free-kick which looked goalbound all the way, but was tipped clear by the Leithen keeper who made a superb stop.
