Scott happy to go for league and cup glory

HAWICK United striker Ross Scott is hoping to add to impressive goal haul this season as the Tangerines travel to take on Eyemouth United in the first round of the Walls Cup.

The teenage hitman has caught the eye this season with some impressive performances, having netted 14 times already to help fire United into the promotion spots of the ‘B’ Division.

It’s a far cry from last season when the Wilton Lodge Park outfit were battling at the other end of the table.

Scott told the Hawick News this week: “Last season we didn’t do well at all and that was disappointing, but this season has been completely different.

“We’re playing with a lot more commitment and confidence. The team is really bonding well and all the players have been working for eachother.

“There are two Portuguese boys in the side now and they’ve shown up well.”

United are coming off the back of an inspiring 7-0 South of Scotland victory over Biggar.

And Scott is delighted to be fighting for silverware on a number of fronts.

He added: “I’m really enjoying my football and it would be great if we could get promoted and even better to win the league.

“Tomorrow’s going to be a tough game against Eyemouth as they’re a good side, especially at home.

“I think we can get a win though. It would be brilliant to go on and get a run in the cup.”
