Hogg out to prove he’s no one-game-wonder

STUART Hogg insists he’s put his Italian masterclass to the back of his mind as he focuses on today’s match against Ireland at Murrayfield.

The 20-year-old earned rave reviews for his stunning solo try – his second of the tournament – and overall performance in the record win over the Italians two weeks ago.

But he knows that will count for very little if the Scots, who are second behind England in the 6Nations table, can’t follow that up with victory today.

He said: “You’ve got to get on with your next job and can’t get above yourself. You’ve got to back up what you’ve done in your next game otherwise you’re something of a one-game-wonder and I’m not planning on being that.

“We need to back up our performance against Italy. We’re second in the table and that’s a bloody good sight for the team and the whole of the country.”

Hogg starts the match at full-back against an Irish outfit without Gordon D’Arcy, Jonathan Sexton and Simon Zebo.

He added: “It’s going to be tough as they’re a good side, but our focus is on making sure we get a win. If we all do our jobs right then we can be a real force against the Irish.”
