Forward thinking tough going for ’Skins chief McFarlane

HAWICK YM coach Jammy McFarlane has drafted in emergency re-enforcements ahead of this afternoon’s friendly fixture against Dumfries at Mansfield Haugh.

The Redskins are struggling to field forwards, with their Border League opener against holders Gala just a week away.

McFarlane has recruited a second row from Kelso, two forwards from Gala and two from Dumfries for the match.

He said: “These boys have agreed to play for just one game. It’s going to be like the YM Barbarians but that’s how desperate it is.

“It’s every bit as bad as you could imagine and the clock is ticking. It’s hard going but I’m doing the best I can.”

Captain Bruce Campbell misses the match as he is on holiday.

Kick off is 3pm.
