THIRTY-EIGHT Hawick club members hit the pool in fine style with a clutch of personal bests in the recent time trials.

The cups for fastest in each stroke were awarded to Jack Wilson (all four strokes for boys) and Kirsten Mitchell (all four for girls). Fastest in each age category were Lauren Grant (12-and-under), Nathan Murray and Abbie Jeffrey (11-and-under), Gavin Mitchell and Rhiann Ferguson (10-and-under), Lyall Hodgins and Jenna Amos (nine-and-under).

The trophy for fastest in the individual medley for those aged ten-and-under went to Jenna Amos, while shields for most improved between time trials were presented to Nicholas Palmer (high school), Akiko Ballantyne (primary girls) and Greg Lowrie (primary boys).

n Congratulations to all swimmers who took part in last Sunday’s graded challenge in which the Hawick club lifted the Challenge Cup, as well as securing a huge haul of medals and 50 personal bests from 59 swims. Thanks to everyone who helped organise things and to all sponsors including Hamish D. Smith Jeweller who donated the cup.

n NATHAN Murray did himself proud during finals weekend of the East District age groups at Glenrothes, where he slashed five seconds off his personal best in the 100m breaststroke.
