High school serves up Plate victory

The under-15 Border League Plate final had Hawick’s name all over it, with the high school’s ‘A’ and ‘B’ teams contesting the final.

While the ‘A’ team emerged 18-11 winners in a closely-fought match, the presence of both teams in the final indicates the huge popularity of this relatively new addition to the high school’s sports clubs.

Hawick coach Gillian Thomson, who took charge of the team for the last time after four years at the helm, said: “The level of support the school has given us has been amazing. The players have been a pleasure to coach, and it’s great to see how far netball has come at the school.”

Jenny Sharp was pick of the bunch at GK for the ‘A’ team, while the ‘B’ team’s Rachel Shiel was named player of the match.
