Hawick 17s played host to Kelso on Sunday at Wilton Lodge Park, and it was the home team who started the best with most of the play for the first 20 mins.
And the young Teries’ dominance was rewarded with a goal when a good passing move culminated in a clinical finish by Chay Caldwell.
Kelso squared the match when referee Eddie Walsh awarded them what looked like a very soft penalty and the teams went in at half-time all square.
Hawick started well again after the break and were spraying the ball about, but the pattern of the game changed when they lost Fabio Carvalho and keeper Kerr Brown to injuries.
Kelso then went on to net what proved to be the winner with 10 minutes to go.
