HAWICK Hawks are set to swoop on today’s national floorball finals in Gloucester.

The Teri outfit will field two youth teams in the tournament, and both the under-13 and under-15 sides have been training hard at regular sessions at the Auld Baths ahead of the showpiece event.

Coach Craig Girvan and goalkeeping coach Darren McElrath have been putting the youngsters through their paces over the last few months, and Girvan is quietly confident his charges can return home with some silverware.

Speaking to the Hawick News, he said: “We’re under no illusions as to how tough it’s going to be down in Gloucester, but the boys have got that bit more experience after reaching last year’s final, and although they were narrowly beaten, they put in a tremendous effort, and more of the same this weekend should see them in the mix at the business end of both competitions.”

The Hawks would like to thank Morrisons, Cathy Courtney, Gary Richardson, Lee Manners, Cameron Luke and Margaret Scott for all their help over the past few months.
