ENTRIES are being sought for a quiz night with a difference next weekend at Hawick and Wilton Cricket Club in Buccleuch Road.

Prior to the questions being asked, four 20-minute videos of Scotland’s Grand Slam-winning matches of 1984, against Wales, England, Ireland and France, will be shown. The videos, which belong to Hawick man Alan McCredie, all have a strong link to the town as they are introduced by the late Bill McLaren, as well as having his commentary and thoughts on the games. It is believed this will be the first time the videos have been shown in public.

The theme of the quiz is about observation, and the questions which follow will focus on the
videos that have just been shown. Entrants do not need to be experts on rugby, they just have to have good powers of observation.

Event organisers are looking for teams of four, who will pay £12 to enter, and hope the night will be a fun, family affair.

Proceeds from the quiz will go to the Bill McLaren Foundation and the cricket club.

The quiz takes place next Friday, February 28, at 7pm. More information is available from Alan Moffat on 07727 087620.
