Waverley were down to the bare bones for this South of Scotland Cup tie in having only a squad of 11 players.

Matters were to get even worse for the Wilton Lodge Park side, though, for midway through the first half Waverley lost the services of Davis Hope through injury.

With no substitutes to bring on the Teries played the remainder of the game with ten men.

Despite their problems, Waverley had the better of the first period and opened the scoring when Jason Inglis slotted away a left-footed shot.

In the latter stages, Waverley were sent reeling when Jed struck twice.Former Waverley signing Daniel Chandler getting both goals.

Waverley goal-scorer Jason Inglis told the Hawick News: “If we had had eleven players on the park I’m sure we would have won the game. Considering we played most of the game with only ten guys we did really well. Everybody battled away and got stuck in.”
