Victors over West Barns Star the previous week, Waverley found themselves on the wrong end of a 5-3 scoreline this time.

In what was their last game of the season, Waverley fell a goal behind during the opening exchanges when Calvin Bisset fired West Barns ahead.

Following some lively action during which both sides had their moments, Waverley equalised. After latching on to a Steven Sharkey cross, Liam Lavery drilled a shot out of the reach of the Star keeper.

Just on half-time, Star took the lead again when Lugton netted.

Waverley came out with all guns a blazing at the start of the second period and in a three-minute spell scored two goals. Both counters coming from Darren Munro.

The Waverley front runner got the first of his brace in polishing off a move engineered by Scott Craig and Lavery. A minute later, Munro found the net again after being fed by a pass from Tony Craggs.

Craig Smith then put West Barns Star on a level pegging.

Star followed this up by notching a fourth. Ross Peffers sending over a cross which Alan McLean drove into the net.

After Grant Brownlee had came near to equalising with a header from a Craig corner-kick, the visitors put the issue beyond doubt in the closing seconds.

Lugton seeing to this in beating Waverley keeper Ali Willison with a header.
