Hawick United hit the cup trail this weekend and the game can’t come quick enough for manager Geo Shepherd’s side, writes John Slorance.

The Tangerines are in South of Scotland Cup action against Glenmuir Thistle, of Ayrshire, in tomorrow’s third round tie at Wilton Lodge Park, and looking ahead to the match, which was postponed last week due to an unplayable pitch, Shepherd told the Hawick News: “As far as I’m concerned it’s a massive game for United.

“The South of Scotland Cup is the biggest competition that we play in, and if we win we’ll be in the quarter-finals which would be a great achievement.

“The players are buzzing and will give it their best shot.”

Hawick Royal Albert manager Graeme Chadwick has been appointed as a scout for Hearts. Chadwick, who will remain boss of the Teri outfit, said: “I’m absolutely delighted. I’ll be identifying players from 14 to 17 from the Lothian area for the Hearts Academy.”

The winner of Hawick Legion’s £100 monthly draw for sponsors is Hawick Knitwear.
