ALTHOUGH completely outgunned, Hawick Legion fought all the way in this one-sided Border Amateur Division ‘C’ encounter which saw Chirnside United Colts emerging 9-1 winners.

Commenting on the match, Rovers manager Darren McElrath said: “We had some players missing due to them being in the first team, but we tried our best, and you can’t ask for anything more than that.

Chirnside had a lot of pace up front and we couldn’t handle this.

“After Andrew Tinlin got injured, we played the last 15 minutes with only ten men, as we had used all our substitutes, and this didn’t help us.

“We had a few chances during the game which we didn’t take, but scored a good goal through a Steven Aries free-kick.

“Although he let in nine goals, our keeper Kevin Miller still pulled off a lot of saves.”
