LEGION Rovers upset the applecart as well as booking a spot in the semi-finals of the Sanderson Cup with a somewhat unexpected win against the Berwickshire side.

Rovers’ triumph was, however, no surprise for their player-manager Luke Cooper, who told the Hawick News: “Tweedmouth have beaten the Rovers 6-1 and 10-1 this
season, but I was confident we would get a win this time, and we did.

“All the boys played out of their skins and it was a great win for us.

“Had we been told at the start of the season that the Rovers might be folding, we might have been playing like this every week.”

Cooper notched the only goal of the first half in diving forward to head home a well-flighted Andrew Tinlin cross.

In a second half during which Tweedmouth had two players sent off in a ten-minute spell, John Shankie blasted in a second for the homesters.
