“IT MIGHT sound unbelievable when you see the score, but we were the better side in the first half by far,” claimed Hawick Legion Rovers player-manager Luke Cooper following his side’s mauling at the hands of title contenders Tweedmouth Amateur Colts.

“We dominated and could well have scored five goals at least.

“The Tweedmouth keeper had to make some great saves, as we had chances and a few near misses.”

Cooper continued: “We did everything but score, while Tweedmouth had only three attacks and scored in every one of them.

“It sounds crazy, but that’s the way it was. I know we were beaten 10-1 and you can’t argue with that, but the result flattered Tweedmouth.”

After netting three times in the first half, the visitors then rubbed it in with a fourth goal right after the break.

Rovers then got among the goals when Paul Cooper shot home following a Luke Cooper free-kick.

Tweedmouth, however, went on to score six goals of their own
after this, leaving Rovers on the end of a humiliating scoreline.

They have the chance to make amends this Saturday in the home game against rock-bottom Gala Athletic.
