Rovers’ recent unbeaten run came to an end in falling to Border Amateur ‘C’ Division leaders Tweedmouth.

Talking of matters, Rovers manager Darren McElrath said: “It just wasn’t our day. The boys all tried very hard and put a lot of effort in but we never really got a foothold in the game. We had chances in the first half but didn’t put the ball in the net. Tweedmouth are a very good side and we gave them a game, though.”

The woodwork robbed the Hawick outfit of a goal in the first half when John Shankie hit the bar with a well-struck drive.

Michael Moir and Sean Clarke also came close to scoring before Tweedmouth took the lead ten minutes from the break.

The visitors then went on to score twice in the second period.
