HAWICK Royal Albert are hoping to sign off their season on a high with victory against Kelso tomorrow, writes John Slorance.

It has been a campaign that will see the Albert finish bottom spot of the East of Scotland First Division no matter what the score against the Tweedsiders.

And while it may have been filled with more downs than ups, their fortunes have changed recently with a run of much-improved results.

Royalists player-manager Lawrie Dunn said: “It would be great to finish the season with a win. This would mean a lot to the players as well as acting as a pre-season boost.

“Also it would be a brilliant farewell to our loyal fans and especially the Hawick ‘Ultras’ whose support has been absolutely fantastic.”

And Dunn revealed plans were already being put in place for next season. He added: “About five or six new players will be coming into the squad. Graeme Chadwick and myself have been talking to guys about joining Hawick and the response has been good.

“In fact, players have been contacting us and saying they would be interested in playing for Hawick. Things are starting to change for the better.”

There will be free Mars Bars and cola for fans under 16 at tomorrow’s match.
