Hawick Youth Under-17s suffered a heavy loss away to runaway league leaders Duns on Sunday.

The game started evenly with both sides coming close to scoring, and it was the hosts who broke the deadlock after 10 minutes and quickly added another two. A couple of Hawick mistakes then led to Duns grabbing two more goals before the break.

The second half saw the Berwickshire lads still dominating, with Hawick’s only real bright spot when Cesar Bento smashed home a consolation goal from a Euan Gray pass .

Although Duns deserved their 8-1 victory, the scoreline does not reflect Hawick’s hard work and commitment.

HAWICK Under-14s pulled out all the stops to record a 7-0 victory at home to Coldstream on Sunday.

Those on target for the young Teries were: Aiden Burke (3), Kieron Manners, Kyle Johnston, Evan Alexander and Lewis Robertson.

A Hawick club spokesperson said: “The boys played exceptionally well, with Charlie Hope and Mat Linton stand-out performers.”

This Sunday, the under-14s are in action at home against Gala. “This will be a difficult game and could decide the league winners,” added the spokesperson.
