Legion see three points go begging

Although not kicking a b all, Hawick Legion still ended up on the wrong end of the
result against Coldstream Amateurs.

Saturday’s Border Amateur ‘B’ Division clash was scheduled to take place at Wilton Lodge Park, only for the match to be called off and the Berwickshire outfit awarded the points.

Legion chairman Davie Fraser explained: “The club should have paid a £5 fine to the Border Amateur League after one of our players, Jody Easdon, was sent off. Due to an error this was overlooked and the fine was not paid before the deadline. If you don’t pay the fine in time, the rules are that your team is banned from playing until it is paid, and if you have a game, the opposition get the points.

“The fine has been paid now but we didn’t pay it in time. It’s all very unfortunate, especially as we were hoping to get three points to keep up our high league position.

“The rules are the rules, though.”
