Following an even start, Langholm were awarded a penalty when Andrew Maltman was judged to have brought down a visiting attacker. Referee Eddie Walsh pointed to the spot and the Langholm striker made no mistake to put his side ahead.

From here on Legion started to get a foothold in this Border Amateur ‘B’ Division game and Maltman made amends for his earlier discretion with a bullet header from a corner-kick to draw the Teries level.

The second half started with Legion playing a bit more free-flowing football and they took the lead through captain Callum Hope who chested the ball down on the edge of the box before rifling a shot home.

Legion sailed further ahead after a great through ball from Andrew McFarlane to Scott Duncan who slotted away a good strike. The visitors pushed for another goal but the homesters’ rearguard held out.

A Legion spokesperson said: “Our boys put in a good second-half performance and deserved their victory.”
