Two quick-fire goals from Gordon at the start of the second half sent Waverley reeling out of the Waddell Cup.

Waverley were first to do the business when sailing into the lead with just four minutes gone.

Taylor Hope whipped over a corner-kick and Neal McConnell did the rest in finding
the net with an excellent header.

‘B’ Division outfit Gordon, however, took this in their stride and for the remainder of the first period more
than matched ‘A’ Division Waverley.

With a minute of the second half gone, Gordon equalised when Brian Tait chested down the ball and blasted home a shot.

Sixty seconds later, Gordon struck again through a headed Euan Brown goal.

Although Waverley came near to equalising with a McConnell free-kick that cannoned off the bar, Gordon had the upper hand as the game progressed and emerged worthy victors.

Waverley manager Bruce Hughes said: “It’s never nice to lose but I have no complaints about the
result.

“Gordon are a good side and they rolled up their sleeves throughout the match, showed a lot of purpose and determination, and on the day deserved their win.”
