BORDER AMATEUR ‘B’ DIVISION
HAWICK got off to an encouraging start in this battle of the Legions and took an early lead when Davis Hope headed home a Jory Robertson corner.
In a match switched from Jedburgh to Hawick because of an unplayable pitch, the visitors soon got on level terms with a shot that squeezed through a ruck of players during a goalmouth scramble.
Legion came close to retaking the lead with efforts from David Fraser and Dale Whillans, while Jed were denied by great saves from new Legion keeper Kerr Brown.
In the second half Legion were unfortunate not to score when Callum Hope broke through and rounded the Jed keeper only to lose his footing as he was about to shoot.
Jed went on to score twice but Legion refused to give up and Gary Moffat pulled a goal back with a header.
The home side went in search of an equaliser but Jed held out.
