Hawick Legion 2

Two goals from Scott Duncan helped steer Legion to a well-earned Border Amateur Division ‘A’ victory.

With Jamie Dickson, Simon Philbin, Liam Lavery and Scott Duncan causing Greenlaw problems with their pace, Legion impressed during the early part of the game and duly sailed into the lead. Duncan grabbing the first of his brace with a cracking shot after collecting a through-ball from Jody Easdon.

After Legion had a stonewall penalty turned down when Duncan was upended in the box, Greenlaw rattled away an equaliser.

The Teries, however, came bouncing back and Duncan got his name on the scoresheet again with a sweetly-struck drive.

Minutes from time, Legion keeper Kevan Miller prevented Greenlaw from getting on level terms with a superb save.

Commenting on matters, Legion assistant manager Tony Craggs said: “It was a good win for us as Greenlaw are a very decent side, especially at home.

“We played the ball on the ground and were solid at the back and overall it was a good team performance.”
