Today sees a meeting of bottom against top as Hawick Royal Albert take on high-flying Peebles Rovers at Albert Park, writes John Slorance.
Sitting on the eight-point mark along with Kelso United, Royalists are anchored at the foot of the East of Scotland First Division table, while Peebles are at the opposite end of the chart on 24 points.
Rovers are hot favourites to gain victory, but Albert assistant manager John Fettes is hoping his side can cause an upset. He told the Hawick News: “We’ve played Kelso United and Eyemouth United thrice this season, but it will be the first time we’ve met Peebles Rovers, so it will be a refreshing change.
“I know the Peebles manager John O’Hara well and I have to take my hat off to him as he’s doing a great job at Peebles.
“John has brought in some quality players this season and his side have had some great results.
“Playing Peebles will suit us just fine as they like to play good football and so do we and it could well be an entertaining game.
“We’ll be the outsiders, but it’s the old adage that it’s 11 against 11.
“It will be a big task for us, but hopefully we can get a result and we’ll certainly be trying hard to achieve this.”
Set to make his first appearance in an Albert shirt is recent signing Nathan Lorimer. Formerly of Hibs, Hearts and Dunfermline Athletic, Lorimer was to have made his debut against Heriot-Watt University two weeks ago but missed the game through injury.
