Charlie Tipple ready for soft Moor ground

Saturday sees the flapping season continue at Hawick Moor with the Hawick Horse Racing Association’s third meeting of the year.

With the first race off at 1pm, the going is sure be soft after the rain over the past week.

So far this season there have been decent fields so hopefully tomorrow’s meeting continues in that vain with an entry of 26 horses.

Volare and Tradesman’s winner My Way are set to run after missing Langholm Common-Riding due to trainer Lorna Irving being hurt in a freak accident.

Lorna is in great spirits and is hoping to leave hospital in the next week or so and a winner from these two horses would be a great tonic for her.

Top weight Just A Dream may find the ground going against him but is in the best form of his life.

Other horses which should run well are the back-in-form Rockstar, Charlie Tipple, who will love the soft ground; and Tank Up, a three-year-old who ran really well on his debut at Langholm.

On the jockey title front it is a ding dong battle between brothers Liam and Gary Berridge with only one winner separating the pair.
