STUART Chalmers may not have played a shot in anger as Scotland’s cricketers tumbled to defeat against Afghanistan in the Intercontinental Cup Final, but the 28-year-old all rounder said the trip was as a “great experience”.
The former Hawick and Wilton star failed to make the final team for the match in Dubai, which the Saltires lost by seven wickets.
He said: “It was a good two weeks of training and a great experience. We trained at the ICC Global Academy, which has both indoor and outdoor facilities as well as two pitches and the final was played in the Dubai International Stadium, which holds 25,000.
“In the end the better team won and they took their chances when we didn’t. We only had a 124-run lead going into the second innings which just wasn’t enough to defend.”
