Buccleuch men topple leaders

THE Buccleuch men were at home to joint league leaders Gala last Monday, when they proved themselves up to the challenge by winning four of the five rinks and overall by 98 shots to 69.

GALA were again the visitors last Tuesday, but this time it was a senior men’s league clash, and buoyed by the club’s win the night before, the Teries secured a good 68 shots to 56 victory. Best for the Buccleuch were G. Moyes, J. Gray and W. Thomson (skip) 22-5.

ALSO last Tuesday, the ladies were in league action at home to Lauder, and hosts ran out winners by 28 shots to 22, taking all five points in the process.Both Buccleuch rinks were three shots up.

SATURDAY’S lady president’s day saw C. Hogarth emerging victorious over L. Sykes in the final. A lovely meal, supplied by president Marion Pearson, was enjoyed by all. The ladies would like to thank the men who served and washed up.

TOMORROW (Saturday) sees the ladies’ Border Tournament with the finals on the Buccleuch green on Sunday.

Also tomorrow, the Local Tournament will staged for the men.

HAWICK

THE seniors enjoyed a good 57 shots to 46 victory at home to Gala Abbotsford last Tuesday, when the top rink for the Teries was the Alec Wilson-skipped squad ably supported by Langholm exile Tony Anderson and Bert Wear.
