Sunday’s Lady Captain’s Charity Stableford was notable not only for a number of good scores but also for the generosity of lady members, both playing and absent. The event raised £130 for the Borders group of the Riding for the Disabled Association, which is based at Ancrum. Gill Cartwright, this year’s lady captain, chose this as her captain’s charity partly because it is local to the club and also because a number of lady members are associated with it. She expressed her gratitude to all who had helped to raise this sum for the RDA, which she is looking forward to handing over to the association shortly. Result – 1, M. Towers 36 points; 2, J. Elliot 35; 3, Sharon Lees 34; G. Cartwright 32.
