TARA Mactaggart has been selected to play for Scotland in the SLGA Under-16 Open Stroke Play Championship at Strathmore Golf Centre.
It is the second time the teenager has been picked to represent her country and she admitted she can’t wait for the competition in April.
She said: “It feels unbelievable to be selected for a second time.Wearing the purple jumper again will feel so good”
Tara, pictured, has been away in Spain at the Las Colinas Golf and Country Club as part of her winter training.
She has also been at Ashkirk driving range four times a week and at Braid Hills every Saturday as she hones her skills, with help from coaches Frank Scott and Colin Brooks.
Tara added: “The continuous hard training I’ve put in during the bitterly cold winter has paid off and I can’t thank my coaches enough for putting up with it all just so I can improve.”
The 15-year-old admitted she also owes a huge debt of gratitude to her friends and family for all their assistance – from cheering her up to organising competitions, accompanying her on her travels and funding her golfing ambition.
She said: “I’m just so thankful for having great friends everywhere, an amazing family and excellent coaches. These people are the reason I’ve come this far.”
