The 13-year-old carded a terrific one-over par 74 to take the title by a
n emphatic six shots, with Amelia Taylor from Bolton finishing runner-up.

The five-handicapper's consistency was the key to her victory as she added the national title to her growing list of achievements.

Lesley commented: "I've played this course before and had a good record here but it's great to come back and win a championship of this stature. I have another year at this age level so hopefully I can return in 2009 and win again."

Coached by Frank Scott, Lesley, is part of the Scottish Golf Union Academy and is highly rated by many in the game.

Meanwhile, 12-year-old Tara Mactaggart capped a memorable few days for the Minto club with an excellent victory in this week's south regional final of the Dunfermline Building Society Junior Masters.
Playing at Torwoodlee, she posted a superb 35 points which included an inward half scratch score of 40 to win the girls' section ahead of St Boswells' Vicki Shirra Gibb.

Having just missed out on a place at Gleneagles last year, she was delighted to go one better 12 months later.

"It's great to win having come so close to a place in the final last year," said Tara. "With Lesley's win at The Glen last week it's exciting times for the girls at Minto."
