HAWICK has two newly-crowned golf champions in Mary Turnbull and Davie MacLeod.
Apart from excelling in winning their respective titles, the Hawick twosome have also put themselves in the record and history books.
Mary emerged the Woll Golf Club's first lady champion, while Davie became the first Hawick man to take the Roxburghe Golf Club championship.
This is an excellent achievement for the Hawick pair, and reflecting on matters, Mary told the Hawick News: "I'm really thrilled to be the Woll's first ever lady champion. It's a great honour to have achieved something like this and I'm just delighted."
Talking of his title triumph, Davie said: "It's great to be Roxburghe champion, as well as being the first Hawick man to do so. However, it was a hard-earned win as there were some very good golfers in the competition."
