ANOTHER dismal display by Hawick and Wilton saw St Boswells beating them by seven wickets at Buccleuch Park on Saturday.
After losing the toss Hawick were put into bat in a game reduced to 40 overs due to the weather.

Father and son Bruce and Phil Mactaggart opened the batting, but only three overs later Phil was out. Wickets fell quickly after that and soon the Teries were 18 for six after only 10 overs.

Hawick captain Jim Chalmers came to the crease and batted for 76 minutes in difficult conditions. And aided by young James Boyle the took the total to 66 before the latter was out.

Chalmers was last man out in the 34th over with Hawick on 68.

With a quick turnaround, St Boswells cruised past the Hawick total in only 12 overs, for the loss of three wickets. Neil Storey taking two for 29.

This was a very poor display by the Hawick batsmen, who could not cope with the damp wicket. And they must apply themselves a bit more tomorrow when travelling to Kelso or they could be home before tea.
n Sunday's friendly match at home to Biggar is being sponsored by Short's of Hawick.
