JULY has once again been a difficult month for fly fishers. With the wind varying in direction and the temperature bouncing about all over the place, there hasn't been the surface life on the waters.
Booby fishers have scored better on Acreknowe but a few fish have fallen to CDC hoppers and suspender buzzers, while Gordon Gentleman has tempted a number of trout with an orange buzzer over the last two weeks.

Williestruther is pretty weed-free at the moment which is proving to be good for the worm and maggot fishers and also spinners. Colin Hutchison has taken full advantage fishing a small black spider around the weed beds.

Hellmoor and Acremoor have also been very challenging this month with anglers having to try all different methods to get results.

Local salmon and sea trout anglers were delighted to see the rise in the river level last week which will have brought a number of fish forward into our water and should see some good sport over the next few weeks.

I'm off on holiday for the next two weeks but for those with anything interesting to report I can still be contacted on 07988 900602.
